Kiwi Herbs Limited advocates strongly the importance of New Zealands Maori cultural heritage.

Kiwi Herbs Limited supports our local iwi (Maori tribal authorities for environmental outcomes, and chooses to conduct business in a way that respects, supports and encourages Maori values and beliefs.

Kiwi Herbs Ltd will demonstrate cultural sensitivity to tribal authorities where customary harvesting occurs on Maori, government and territorial authorities lands.

As part of this Managing Director Fred Allen is actively involved with Te Paepae Matua mo te Rongoa (Rongoa Taumata),in environmental guardianship (kaitiakitanga), Treaty of Waitangi claims and submissions (historical and contemporary), advocacy and government working groups on various cultural aspects related to native plants.

Within New Zealand , Kiwi Herbs Ltd will not undertake Maori traditional Rongoa services as a business. Services are to New Zealand Ministry Of Health standards, are acknowledged by a koha (gift)and are only available to whanau (family and relatives). There are herbal products and goods available by the same process as international customers.

There may also develop access and benefit sharing opportunities with Maori Tribal Authorities from collaborating international companies.

Fred Allen is of Maori descent. His ancestor was known as Mata te Naihi or Mata te Naehe, and she was related to the Te Atiawa chief Te Whiti. Mata and her family were living in and around the Rohe (tribal boundary)of Whanganui-A-Tara (Wellington) from 1839 to 1858.

Fred claims Te Tino Rangatiratanga and Kaitiakitanga rights guaranteed under article 2 of the Treaty Of Waitangi.
